Harborfest

The tall ships and racing yachts were a spectacular sight just as  as I anticipated at the Charleston Harbor Fest on Saturday. There is no place else I would rather be, than at a beach , on a boat or on a dock. If you have followed by blog from the beginning then you already know about my love affair with the sea, and have been a boater all my life. These boats are on the last leg of the race that started in La Rochelle, France The Charleston Maritime Center played host for the last leg of the
Velux 5 Oceans  Race. The racers will cross the Atlantic back to La Rochelle, France where the race began in October of last year. Fans and well wishers waved flags and cheered the skippers on as they set sail to to their final destination. The Velux 5 Oceans is the ultimates solo challenge is racing. It consists of 5 grueling ocean sprints over a 9 month period. The skippers have already sailed from Europe to Cape Town and the Cape of Good Hope. Then off to the the Ocean of Wellington New Zealand, on to the most remote spot on earth. Then was the most dangerous Cape Horn , all this before braving the elements of  dangerous weather patterns up to  Charleston! Theses guys rock and are truly amazing athletes. Safe travels and Godspeed to all the skippers!

What an amazing thing to see Linda! I Love your photos, the boats are beautiful! They used to have the Chicago to Mackinaw races, not sure if they still do, but we would be able to see them go by some years on Lake Michigan and they were just beautiful! I would love to sail on one of those one day. :)
Have a wonderful week my friend!
