A Cheerful Cottage

When choosing the color palette  for this cottage, the home owners were inspired by the lake, sun and sky. What better colors than  Blue, Orange and White. A bright and cheerful cottage  with family friendly  furniture and washable  fabrics used  throughout the house. This adorable cottage sits on Lake Simcoe, in Ontario Canada. Classic  Blue and White, paired with  Orange is  a huge trend right now, one I hope will stay for awhile. How do you feel about Blue and Orange together?

Have a great weekend! We are off to the beach!

River House Renovation

In the current issue of Southern Living Magazine there is a great cottage on the river that got a  renovation of a different type. This circa 1903 cottage, was very old and dilapidated, and in dire need of some serious TLC. When this young family had this cottage moved to their river front lot on the Magnolia River in Alabama. There was one condition. of the renovation. If it came with the cottage, it stayed with the cottage..

The painting above the fireplace is of the cottage in it's original state. The painting was restored by a friend.

I love ALL the wood flooring and walls.

The original corbels are used as shelving in the kitchen. Cute!

The claw foot tub came with the house.

The Asian inspired bamboo piece works great in this space.

This trunk was found in the house. What a treasure!

Old ship lights are used as chandeliers. Love the rope around the table.

I would spend hours on this dock!

Modern Cottage Cool

Designer Lindsay Reid decorated her  California Cottage, with cheery colors and an easy relaxed look. Her inspiration ....  her love of the Mediterranean and  books of botanical prints for her color palette.. This is such a light and airy house, that says "welcome".

The front of the cottage is darling!

                                                                  Casual Chic

Love the mixing of the furniture styles.

Blue and Whire Preppy, with french inspiration.

I am still on my White kick, but lately I really love the coolness of the color Grey with yellow. This is so pretty. This is simple and  chic.
I have Windsor chairs that I am absolutley sick of, this could be a great refresher for them. The Ikat fabric, LOVE!

A sweet dining area with Camillia's.So pretty and the smell...ahhh.

Honeysuckle and The Happiness Factor

When we think about a color we want to paint a room or rooms,we pick colors that make us happy right? That is because color has a huge impact on our moods and how those colors make us feel.
Color can make us feel  happy, sad, calm, energized, or relaxed.Think about how  bright  yellow sunny days  make us feel alive and energized,or how being by the beautiful blue ocean can take you away to a calm serene place. Honeysuckle, the color of 2011, that I blogged about back in December, just makes me feel happy! This color is a reddish pink, with a blue undertone.I think it's an "in your face" type of color,it is a bold and bright assertive hue. These rooms designs use the Honeysuckle color in different ways. How does Honeysuckle make you feel ? Let me know!!

Betty Murdock Interiors (Traditional Home)The splashes of Honeysuckle throughout out this  traditional white walled room, just make the room pop with color without being over the top..The fabric on the chairs I love!!

Apartment Therapy

Sally Lee By The Sea I love this funky little beach house den !

(Kelley Interior Design) Traditional  in style..

(Apartment Therapy.) An updated nostalgic feel.

I am always a sucker for pink and green..

This is such a girly girl room, I love it!The pink and brown accent chairs and brown sofa help to soften the wall color.

This has a cute cottage feel.

A Couple Beachy Finds

I really didn't plan on going  antiquing today, but soooo glad I did.I scored two great finds! We were on our way to Charleston to move our  #2 son and my soon to be future daughter-in law into their new home .We were going through Ravenel SC, when we passed this old antique store, that I have passed so many other times that never  caught my eye, but today it did. Out front were about ten to fifteen of those 60's retro lawn chairs.that I absolutely love, but have no use for, didn't matter,I had to see how much they were. They weren't a great find but these were ....
Circa 1960's table

Shabby chic or cottage look. The owner had just finished putting a french paste and wax  on it! He wanted 55.00 dollars. I wasn't having any of that. I got him down to 45.00.Love this table! I just need to find a spot for it.

These Iron Starfish are a huge score! $.4.00 a piece, I should have bought them all. These are the only 3 that have the most aqua color to them, the others were more of a cream color. Cute, Cute, cute!

This one has the prettiest blue color to it.
The next time you are in Ravenel, SC stop by the Once In A Blue Moon antique store. I am off to find my new table  spot in the house. These are going to be a great addition to our costal home.
