Vintage Tea Towels

I don't know what got me started on my newest tangent, which is vintage Tea towels. I mean really, how can someone get so excited over a rag to wash dishes with?..but it I am... I went on E Bay just to see how many of  these so called tea towels I could find. Good grief, there is a towel for everything! As I was looking there was one that really caught my eye. It is whimsical, and the colors are beautiful. This was my first vintage tea towel  purchase.

1970's Jamaica Maann!
I ordered a couple digital downloads and thought I would make my own vintage inspired tea towels with a coastal  flair.... These are what I ordered. I love them. I got them on  Etsy.

The only problem was going to be finding was finding the right towels in town instead of going on line. I found 5 for 5.99 at T J Maxx

I found the transfer paper at Walmart, 3 sheets for 4.97.

My excitement soon turned to feeling like an idiot. I put the transfer paper in the printer like I was told, cut out the image like I was told. then when it came to adhering it to the towel, some how something did not compute Was I being stupid, or was it this damm menopause?. It said image side up.... hmm ok. I called hubby in, and he says " I don't know that stuff"  and do you actually think that ink is going to adhere to that towel??Well "yes I said" like  I knew exactly what I was doing. I thought the paper was going to come off to release the image from the paper. UMM No! Hence the words.. IRON ON.. duh! So I  ironed it  it on, with great disappointment. . This is how it turned out.  I guess I was expecting  a  screened image..
It looks good hanging there, just for decoration, because it sure as hell  i isn't going to hold up in the wash !
So I am calling on all you wonderful creative ladies, if any of you know how to do this the RIGHT way, I sure would appreciate the help! ") in the mean time, I kind of went crazy bidding on some beautiful vintage tea towels.

Have a great day!!!

I wish I knew how to help. I tried it once as well and with no luck, I couldn't even get mine to iron on. :) I love the towel you picked up and the ones that you are bidding on are beautiful! I hope you were able to snag some.
hugs!!
